Baule bronze figure
The classic female figure seated on a stool is influenced by the Ashanti people while representing a personage. This figure’s right hand holds a ceremonial sword, and around her waist there is a richly decorated belt for her apron. [1] Scarifications are also an identification mark on a woman’s figure by her genital areas, and have a no inconsiderable erotic value. [2] Scars are not only decorative but can also be used as clothing. These figures are cast and found as gold-weights.
